Students will explore the beliefs, values, and issues that influenced the growth of American education and current educational practice. The course challenges students to explore varying thought on current education processes, issues, and practices while connecting them to their historical origins.

Students will gain a better understanding of why education is the way it is and will learn to recognize and understand varying perspectives in current and historical thinking on education.
