Students will gain a broader perspective of teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum, and leadership through readings, videos, discussions, and applying their learning to real-world situations.
What do students learn in your classes?
Students will be able to apply their knowledge to educational environments while increasing their understanding and perspectives as educators. They will see how their roles impact their academic and social skills of the students with whom they work.
What advice would you give to those considering this online education program?
Online learning is of great value if students fully commit to it. It requires time management, motivation, attention to detail, and the willingness to grow as educators. Students are given the opportunity to connect to others in new ways and be much more active in their learning as they continue to grow professionally. The online program is more flexible but also more demanding in some ways. Always be sure to ask questions when you don’t understand. The only dumb question, I tell my students, is the one that you don't ask.
What is the value of this degree?
By earning this degree, students are prepared to learn and lead.
Why did you start teaching?
I feel I have come full circle. I was taught by those who prepared me for teaching and leadership roles. I now feel humbled that I have the opportunity to do the same for new generations of educators who will teach and lead the students of tomorrow. It is gratifying to be able to give back.

Tell us something that your students might find interesting about you.
In high school, I taught a pilot course in film study. I have always been interested in films, both classic and contemporary. My students held their own Academy Awards program highlighting films they had made for our course. I entered a local newspaper's Academy Awards contest and won first prize which was a gold Cadillac.
